The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 18,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 4 Film Festivals
I think it is interesting to see what images wordpress picked to show. Clicking on one of my images will produce a string of pictures of my work from the past.
My NewYears Resolution in January 2012 was to blog for a year. I gave it a try. I made it though the year and had lots of fun along the way.

How am I going to get my daily post written when my husband is in the other room watching all the previous seasons of the TV show? It’s his first time watching it so he’s catching up. I hear Peggy talking in the background. Gotta run in and see what she is up to. What’s Don doing? Sterling Cooper – I wonder what words of wisdom he will be saying? How am I going to pick and upload an image when I want to see what Betty is wearing? Ahhh the music. That means the end of that episode. Was it really like that when you were an ad man on Madison Avenue in the 60’s?

Traveling, I travel across the floor. Thinking of the look of a rubbing from an french antique metal chair ( you know, the ones with lots of uniform holes punched out on the seat) I started this sketch making freehand circles with a graphite pencil. The circles represent steps. Do you ever wake up in the very early morning and pace back and forth? I do. So I draw until I get sleepy, then go back to bed. I tore up one of my drawings and glued it in place lining it up with marks from the drawing below. The title, Night Walkers, came from the title of a publication put out by the Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation.

So do I lay here in bed like a chicken or am I lying down like a person? My mom always corrected my grammar. Does she know about my cancer? It’s 4 am. My throat is sore. If I get up I get nauseated. Do I use the neti pot first to get rid of the mucus so I don’t vomit the hell out of me or do to I take oxycodone on an empty stomach or take it with that rice pudding that comes from Mexico. Probably will still get sick. Next, diversion. Paint. I wet the paper, get out the pastels, india ink and oil pastels and I paint – forget about my throat for awhile
Today is day 5 of radiation therapy. I’ve numbered 43 sheets of paper. My idea is to pair something nice, my art, with each day of radiation treatment. So, I’ve gone public with my commitment. I don’t know if I’ll be be able to it. We’ll see. It is a good goal because each time I pick up an oil pastel, brush or a pencil; each mark I make creates new questions. Every time I draw or paint I create new problems for myself. Discoveries are made. Art is a distraction from the many daily actions and reactions caused by radiation. I’m working with WordPress to get the colors right. Reds are coming up brown.
