Emily invited me to participate and I was sent the photograph to interpret from my point of view. My first thought was, I’m looking at a full moon at night viewed from a moving train. The image reminded me of an overnight trip on a local train from Hanoi to Sapa in Northern Vietnam. I lay on a steel plank on the bottom bunk. I shared the compartment with five other people.  It was dark. Flashes of light came in through the window. Metal against metal screeched. 20120813-035326.jpgYesterday we drove to the town of Brantome where we traced the steps of the Benedictine monks from the ages of the humble cave to the impressive archetecture of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Megan documented the medieval carvings and I documented her.
While driving home we sketched on
on my apple app called Brushes.
I showed her how to draw with the app. In two minutes Megan had picked it up and I was learning about my phone from her!

French Watch 12-year-Old Draw

20120811-173906.jpg

Hello my name is Megan. I am 12 years old and I love painting with my grandmother – Carla. We both live very far away from each other so this holiday in France was a perfect opportunity to do lots of painting and drawing! Today we went to the farmers market and there were lots of beautiful flowers that we drew. there were lots of French people coming and they said how beautiful our drawings were. There were people coming and watching us draw our pictures and speaking French to us and we had no idea what they were saying!
