Cy Twombly died in Rome . He was 83

Each line he made, he said, was “the actual experience”

of making the line, adding: “It does not illustrate.

It is the sensation of its own realization.

” Years later he described this more plainly.

“It’s more like I’m having an experience than making a picture.”

  1. I love the quote from Cy T. re: his drawing was like having an experience more than making a picture. Can you put that on FB…and then I can share it with my FB friends too. It’s quite a quote…sounds like he was a ‘realized’ being…and I think that this is what every artist strives for, yes? When one paints or draws, (or any action, for that matter), it seems this would be the goal…the ultimate goal. To get one’s ‘self’ out of the way.
