Sunday I tried out my new canon G 11 in the gardens of Filoli an estate in the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Mr and Mrs. William Bowers Bourn Ⅱ created the name Filoli. The word comes from his credo: “Fight for a just cause; Love your fellow man; Live a good life.” I like that.
Hi Carla, Beautiful photo! You should consider joining the artist registry at Filoli. See this link for more information –

Thank you Beth. I will check out the link. I heard they have an artist’s day. It would be a treat to go in there without the general public and take photos or sketch.

Hi Carla – I love your paintings and photographs. You have a great blog! (Now, what would people think, if we said that to someone 50 years ago! ha. )
I really like your photograph of tulips..so translucent!

I remember that while living in Wash. D.C. for a few years, I went to Nat’l Gallery of Art, asked for a chair, sat myself down right infront of a painting by Renoir, and preceeded to sketch it! It was one of the most enjoyable times of my adult life, really. Some people gathered around, but I was in my own world, thoroughly enjoyed myself. (don’t know where that sketch is now, but it seems the end result was not the most important part, but instead the process of sketching!
